The youth policy of the great leader Heydar Aliyev is successfully continued today by President Ilham Aliyev

The formation and implementation of the state policy on youth is connected with the name of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev. National leader Heydar Aliyev, as the patron of young people from the first days of his leadership, considered it an important duty of the state and society to raise a new generation with a healthy mind. The policy implemented by our Great Leader in this field has served to strengthen the spiritual and moral education of the young generation, improve their social well-being and create a rich scientific potential. It is no coincidence that Heydar Aliyev has always cared for young people and tried to solve their problems.
To increase the role of young people in protecting our national and moral values, to ensure that the young generation is educated in the spirit of patriotism in connection with our historical roots, to implement serious educational and cultural reforms to increase the scientific and intellectual potential of young people, to organize young people and to mobilize them to unite as a single force in the defense of our independence , to significantly increase the role of young people in state administration and to form their sense of responsibility, to ensure that young people take maximum advantage of the opportunities created by the integration of the Azerbaijan state into the international world creating foundations were the strategic goals set by the national leader.
Back in the 70s and 80s of the last century, hundreds of young Azerbaijanis were sent to the leading higher schools of the former USSR, including Moscow, to study in various specialties under the instructions of a wise leader. It is enough to mention only one fact that in 1970, on the initiative of Heydar Aliyev, more than 1500 young Azerbaijanis were surrounded by this care. In 1970-1985, the number of Azerbaijani youth studying in 170 higher educational institutions of the Soviet Union was increased to 3500. It was those young people who later began to work as skilled personnel in various fields of economy in our country as highly educated specialists. Every year, 800 students were sent abroad to study. Young people studied in St. Petersburg, Kiev, Kharkiv, Minsk. They had to solve the problems of the new era, which the Republic of Azerbaijan will enter.
National leader Heydar Aliyev always has high hopes for our youth and has repeatedly stated that the future of Azerbaijan is in the hands of the youth. Today, the youth policy of the state was raised to a new stage of development by President Ilham Aliyev, a worthy follower of the National Leader. Fertile conditions have been created for comprehensive development of young people, excellent education, revealing their potential in various fields, and stimulating their skills. Azerbaijani youth is distinguished by its active participation in all spheres of public life. The proclamation of 2007 as the "Year of Youth" and 2020 as "Year of Volunteers" by the respective decrees of the head of the country indicates the successfully implemented state youth policy and care for young people in our country. In order to further develop the state youth policy in Azerbaijan, to ensure the participation of young people in responsible positions in the public service, to turn them into a leading force and to ensure the solution of their socio-economic problems, the country's leadership implements all necessary measures, and important state programs are adopted.
The policy implemented in this direction by President Ilham Aliyev, who always keeps in mind the solution of family and household problems of young people, is highly valued by the country's youth. Supporting proposals and initiatives put forward by Mr. Ilham Aliyev in his meetings with young people and finding solutions in real life is an expression of the state's concern for young people.
The youth policy implemented in Azerbaijan not only created conditions for the all-round development of the young generation, but also formed them in a patriotic spirit. In this regard, the 44-day Patriotic War demonstrated the patriotism, strength, and determination of Azerbaijani youth to the whole world. The main weight of the war fell on the Azerbaijani youth. Because in merciless battles, young people were the first to attack the enemy with weapons in hand. Thanks to the activity of our youth, adequate responses were given to the enemy on all social media platforms. All the young men who went to war participated heroically in the battles. Each of them wrote a patriotic chronicle with their bravery, turned into an epic in languages through a victorious battle. They showed the whole world what the young people of Azerbaijan are capable of.
Mr. Ilham Aliyev: "Many measures have been taken to educate the young generation in the spirit of patriotism, and we have succeeded in this. Today, the youth of Azerbaijan are patriotic youth, they are attached to the Motherland, and the Patriotic War showed this to the whole world. The most important factor that led us to victory was the national spirit, dignity, love for the Motherland, and this was done by the representatives of the young generation, young people who grew up during the independence period. They did it by sacrificing their lives and going to their deaths. The memory of our dear martyrs will always live in our hearts."
